Taya Wright
Hi, I’m Taya
I’m the eldest of five kids from upstate New York. That’s where this started — not with a certification or a Pinterest board, but with a bathroom shared by five children and a bedroom where every inch had to earn its space. You learn to organize when the alternative is chaos. I just never stopped.
I was pre-med in college. I thought I was going to be a doctor. Turns out I’m better at diagnosing homes than diagnosing people — and I’m much happier for it. That analytical brain didn’t go to waste, though. It’s the reason I don’t just look at a messy closet and see a messy closet. I see why it got that way, what’s not working, and what needs to change so it doesn’t end up the same way six months from now.
I moved to Houston and started Just Organized by Taya in 2009. Since then I’ve been inside hundreds of Houston homes — houses in The Heights and Montrose with beautiful bones and no storage, sprawling builds in Katy and Sugar Land where the garage became a graveyard, condos in Midtown where every square foot matters. I know how homes function in this city. I know what the heat and humidity do to the stuff in your garage. And I know the difference between a home that looks organized and one that actually works.
Here’s what I believe: organization isn’t about bins and labels and making things look pretty for Instagram. It’s about building systems that match how you actually live. Your real life — the busy, messy, complicated one — not the aspirational version. If a system doesn’t work for the person living in the home, it doesn’t work. Period.
I’m direct. I’ll tell you the truth about what I see. I’ll push you on the decisions you’ve been avoiding — the closet full of clothes you don’t wear, the garage full of things from a chapter that’s over, the “maybe” pile that keeps growing. But I’ll do it with respect, without judgment, and because I genuinely want your home to stop fighting you.
When I’m not in someone else’s home, I’m in my own kitchen trying new recipes or painting — acrylics, nothing fancy, just something that uses a different part of my brain than organizing does.
If your home isn’t working the way it should, let’s talk. That’s what I’m here for.
