As I’ve often discussed here before, organizing your home often seems like a daunting task, and for this reason lots of people struggle to get started, or find the motivation to keep going.
One way that those who are really having a hard time can begin to tackle clutter and disorganization in their home is to take things one step at a time, and tackle small, but very satisfying, home organization projects one by one. Once completed, these kinds of easy organization projects will inspire you to tackle more. Today I am going to walk you through one such project: Creating and organizing a coffee and tea station in your home.
Creating a functional and organized coffee and tea station in your home will help simplify your mornings and provide a convenient spot for you and your family to enjoy the hot beverages you love in record time. Done right – and it really isn’t that hard, especially if you make use of the right organizational products, it will enhance your home decor too (and even impress your guests and/or Instagram followers)
Ready to get started? Here are some professional organization tips to help you set up an efficient and attractive coffee and tea station in your home:
Choose a dedicated space
Pick a spot in your kitchen or near your breakfast area to set up your coffee and tea station. It does not have to be a huge space, but it should be separated in some way from the rest of the space.
You can create your own coffee station on your kitchen counter! If your counter is small, use a base, such as a tray, to group all of your coffee necessities together to reduce clutter. A shelf above your coffee machine can also be added to store cups, coffee, and other necessities.
If your counter is large, simply arrange your station in a way that reflects your personality. You could include a coffee maker, unique cups, and whatever else you want.
It’s a good idea to use a side coffee station table or cart. They allow you to confine your coffee stand to a specific area of your kitchen, creating a coffee station nook. Furthermore, a rolling coffee bar made from a kitchen island on wheels can be easily accommodated in a large or medium-sized kitchen. This is great for entertaining guests and displaying all of the gadgets you use to make a nice cup of coffee or tea.
Invest in quality storage solutions
The on thing that you should do is get your coffee and tea supplies out of those cardboard boxes and into airtight containers, canisters, or jars to keep them fresh and help ensure that they add to, not detract from, the overall visual appeal of the space.
Label each container, noting the dates you added the contents, and ‘declutter’ any old supplies as you go. This even applies to k-cups by the way, and for those a separate rack of shelf can be an excellent way to organize them.
Use a coffee maker and tea kettle with good capacity
Choose a coffee maker and tea kettle that can make enough drinks for your household, without taking up too much counter space.
Store your cups, mugs, and saucers in an accessible and visually appealing way
Consider installing a cup or mug holder under your cabinets, or display your favorite mugs on hooks or in a cupboard or on the wall near the station.
Keep sweeteners and creamers organized
Store sugar, sweeteners, creamers, and other coffee condiments in labeled containers to avoid clutter and confusion.
Keep extra coffee filters, tea bags, and coffee beans or ground coffee within easy reach in a drawer organizer, arranged by type.
Having these items within reach will help ensure you always have everything you need to make your morning coffee or tea, which will save precious minutes on busy mornings, and help ensure that you can see at a glance when you’ll need to hit the store to buy more.
Add a personal decorative touch
Personalize your coffee and tea station with a few decorative accents, such as flowers, a vase, or a picture frame. You can make use of wall decals too. I love those: they don’t damage walls, making them an excellent choice for renters, are easy to apply, and can be found in huge range of inexpensive styles.
Keep the coffee and tea station clean and clutter free
Regularly wipe down the surface of your coffee and tea station and keep it free from spills and crumbs. Add a trash receptacle to the coffee station set up so that it is easy for everyone else to do the same.
By following these tips, you can create a functional and attractive coffee and tea station that makes your mornings easier and more enjoyable. And you’ll probably find that you’re inspired to tackle another home organization project that will be just as satisfying to complete!
