Sometimes, however organized you have attempted to be, however many shopping lists and gift lists you made, time starts to run out and you are left with some names on that Santa style gifting list of yours that have yet to be checked off.

At this point, in many places, even Amazon Prime shipping may not be the answer (although it never hurts to check, local gifting may still be possible) and panic will start to set in. The almost obvious answer at this point, for those who just can’t face – or don’t have time for – hitting the mall again, is a gift card.

Gift cards, especially when sent in digital form – can be purchased and sent within seconds, but this option in itself can cause pre holiday panic. There are now so many options, and you still want to send a gift that shows a little thought went into it, and that will be useful to its recipient.

With all of this in mind here’s a look at some less usual, but still great, last minute gift card and gift subscription options to consider for anyone left on that to buy for list that will be as welcome as any artfully wrapped physical gift (and maybe even more so.)

Masterclass Annual Membership

The gift of knowledge is one of those gifts that can potentially keep on giving for a long time after the holidays are over, and a Masterclass annual gift subscription is an excellent way to send someone the chance to learn something new, or brush up on a neglected skill that they can make use of at any time, when they have the time in their own busy schedule.

Anyone can learn from the top practitioners in the world through the immersive online experience that is MasterClass. Each course was designed by the instructor and features a wealth of pre-recorded video material, interactive assignments, and extracurricular activities.

And there are a lot of classes to choose from, everything from cooking with Gordon Ramsay to learning to play better basketball with Stef Curry to getting life tips from Kardashians, business tips from tech billionaires, writing tips from the likes of Neil Gaiman and Margaret Atwood and much more. And an annual membership lets your gift recipient take as many of them as they like (there is also a buy one get one free offer, so technically you can kill two birds, or cross two names off your list, in one go)

Goldbelly

There are a lot of food subscriptions available, but Goldbelly is rather unique and, as a transplant from the Northeast living in the South, one I’ve personally come to love. They deliver gourmet regional favorites from all of the country to anywhere in the country. So if you are, for random example (lol), a former Buffalo resident happily living in Houston but still missing what are the original Buffalo Wings from The Anchor Bar, Goldbelly can deliver.

When you send a gift card, or even gift subscription, from Goldbelly its recipient can browse the offerings by type or by region and it can be a great way for someone who’s far from home to feel a little less homesick, or just to enjoy a regional favorite they once had on vacation, or have just always wanted to try.

Bespoke Post

It can be hard to gift some men you don’t know that well something they will really like, or even use, but Bespoke Post makes it easy. A marketplace geared towards men, Bespoke Post is perfect for any lifestyle. A gift card recipient is free to choose what they want from a wide range of options, including grooming tools and products, kitchen and barware, gaming stuff and even cigar and 420 friendly products.

There is a cool factor at play here too. Bespoke Post’s enormous selection of independent businesses, many of which are still relatively unknown, offer some neat stuff that very few others have yet, which always appeals to some people!

Headspace

Lots of us have heard that learning to meditate properly would help us in all kinds of ways, but actually figuring it out can be challenging. If you know someone who’s expressed interest in meditation, a gift subscription to the Headspace app is a thoughtful way to get them going.

The app features hundreds of guided meditations not only for general use but also for sleep, anxiety, or focus that can be accessed at any time. It even lets users track their progress and sync up their meditation minutes to their Apple Health app if they’re an iPhone user.

Horti

There are all kinds of science backed benefits to having a few plants in your home, and they are a wonderful decor touch too, adding color and texture to whatever room they are added to.

Horti allows you to treat the plant lovers in your life to a new plant every month for 3 months. Not only will they get a new green friend, the plants come with terracotta pots and saucers for repotting.

You can even choose what kinds of plants to gift, like only sending pet-friendly varieties or whatever Horti’s monthly choice is.

Cameo

Have a difficult to shop for teen on your gift list, and have no idea what to get them? Or a reality TV superfan or sports nut? A Cameo message may be just the thing.

Cameo allows you to have their favorite celebrity deliver a personalized video message. If you’re gifting to someone who is obsessed with a certain TV show, loves a particular music artist, social media influencer, or is very into sports, a video message from the person they idolize is the ultimate gift.

Once you figure out which celeb you want to deliver your message – and there are a lot to choose from- you can purchase a video message from them and let them know who and what it’s for, and just what you would like them to say. The hardest part of sending this last minute gift will be keeping the surprise from your recipient!
